The brain, just like the body, requires good nutrition to perform properly. You can help keep your brain healthy and keep you at the top of your game by choosing foods that have the important nutrients to support brain health.

Researchers are finding that Vitamin K plays an important role in preserving cognitive ability. For Vitamin K, eat leafy greens such as kale, lettuce, broccoli, Swiss chard, spinach, etc. Nuts also contain Vitamin K.

B Vitamins are key players in brain and memory function. Foods containing B vitamins include wheat germ, sunflower seeds, fish, soybeans, spinach, peas and whole-wheat bread.

Vitamin C is an antioxidant that can help improve memory and helps with neurotransmitter regulation. It is found in citrus fruits, kiwi, berries, bell peppers, broccoli, cabbage and cauliflower.

Vitamin E can help prevent strokes by strengthening blood vessels and has been shown to help slow brain deterioration in Alzheimer’s patients. Vitamin E-rich foods include mustard greens, Swiss chard, spinach, kale, walnuts, almonds, sunflower seeds, whole wheat, sweet potatoes, leeks and asparagus.
