The intent of vacation is to provide rest and recuperation, and should be approved by the supervisor or manager in advance. In certain situations, vacation can be used in lieu of sick leave. Vacation is accrued a rate dependent upon the employee’s classification and/or years of service (P&S, Merit, Merit-Exempt, faculty). To view more information on accrual rates, refer to the Benefits website. Accruals are pro-rated for employees with less than 100% position appointment or with at least one full work day in unpaid status.
