The university is committed to the safety and well-being of its students, faculty, and staff. The pay practices and leave options outlined here are designed to maintain health of our employees, prioritize the university's health care responsibilities, and provide employees with opportunities for meaningful work during the COVID-19 crisis.

These pay practices cover the remainder of the spring 2020 semester. They have been developed in accordance with federal and state legislation and regulation and Iowa Board of Regents rules and guidance. They may need to be updated as new legislation, regulation, and guidance are issued.

Pay Practices and Leave Options by Employee Type

Pay practices are designed to keep working employees and employees available for work—including through temporary reassignment—in paid status. Leave options for ill employees, quarantined employees, and employees caring for children due to school or child care closures include new federal and Board of Regents leave programs.
