The UHR Welcome Center is open 8:00am-5:00pm, Monday through Friday.

The Talent@Iowa project began in 2016 and is expected to continue through fiscal year 2019. Milestones include: 

February 2016: The UI Operations Team charges a Talent@Iowa task force with reviewing central human resources structures and functions. 

March 2016: The task force officially begins the discovery phase of its work, continuing into the summer. 

August 2016: The Talent@Iowa task force submits its report and recommendations. 

September 2016: The UI Operations Team and Office of the President approve the report and give the green light for implementation. 

November 2016: Phase 1 of implementation officially begins. Fourteen Talent@Iowa committees are drafted to implement the 24 task force recommendations. The Governance Council, Immigration Committee, FMLA Committee, HR Independent Organization Committee, Payroll Committee, and IT Transition Committee begin their work. 

December 2016: Independent org number (07) established for University Human Resources.

January 2017: Expanded immigration services go campus-wide.

February 2017: Phase 2 of implementation begins. The Data Driven Decisions Committee, Benchmarking Committee, Diversity Committee, Talent Acquisition Committee, and Training and Onboarding Committee begin their work. 

March 2017: Inaugural UI Human Resources Conference draws 170 HR professionals from across campus.

April 2017: Payroll alignment recommendation is accepted.

May 2017: Centralized FMLA services recommendation is accepted. University Human Resources vision statement is established.

June 2017: Phase 3 of implementation begins—Policy Committee, Succession Planning Committee, and Compensation and Classification Committee start their work. Dual Career Services transitions from Office of the Provost to University Human Resources. Payroll transitions to dual report (UI chief HR officer and UI chief financial officer).

July 2017: Phase 1 implementation is completed. Taleo contract is finalized. Higher Education Recruitment Consortium (HERC) moves to University Human Resources. University Human Resources transitions from Finance and Operations to Office of the President.

August 2017: Benchmarking toolkit receives approval. Talent acquisition team presents strategy.

September 2017: Demographics data dashboard is presented. Leadership committees launch. Talent acquisition strategy is finalized.

October 2017: Supervisor onboarding program is introduced.

November 2017: First regional HR leaders roundtable is held. Data dashboard training begins.

December 2017: Planning begins for new talent acquisition system built on Oracle's Taleo Cloud Service platform. Phase 2 and Phase 3 committees continue to wrap up their work.

January 2018: Governance Council focus begins shift to talent acquisition. Talent acquisition teams are established.

February 2018: Succession planning information sessions are held across campus.

June 2019: Fiscal year 2019 ends with anticipated completion of most Talent@Iowa projects.
