Open Enrollment for 2017 Benefits for Merit Staff is now through November 18, 2016. Please use this enrollment and change period to review your benefits because there are a number of changes. Carefully review the Annual Open Enrollment information which is being sent to you through campus mail to ensure that you understand any changes that may affect your benefit choices.
If you do not make changes, your current benefit selections will roll forward automatically into 2017 and your annual flexible spending accounts pledge will become $0. Benefit enrollment events will automatically be created for you in Employee Self Service to make your benefit elections.
2017 Benefit Change Highlights
No Dental Open Enrollment for 2017. There are changes to the dental rates. If a covered dependent is no longer eligible, please contact the Benefits Office.
Spending Account Enrollment
If you participated in the either a Health Care or Dependent Care spending account this year and you wish to continue for 2017, you MUST re-enroll for the 2017 calendar year. If you do not re-enroll, you will not be in the spending account program for 2017.
Health Plan Premiums
The employee contribution toward single coverage will be $20 per month for Blue Access, Iowa Select and Program 3 Plus. The employee contribution toward family coverage will be $20 per month for Blue Access, $328.00 for Iowa Select, and $335.00 for Program 3 Plus.
Iowa Select and Program 3 Plus - Increase in the Out-of-Pocket Maximum
The medical maximum out-of-pocket increases to $1,000 from $650 for single coverage and to $2,000 from $1,450 for family coverage.
Spouse/dependent Life Insurance
New options added for increased levels of spouse life coverage ($40,000) and children ($20,000).
Accelerated death benefit increase to 75% from 50%. Life insurance portability to group term life at termination.
