Merit Staff - RetireeĀ prior to July 1, 2017

For Merit Staff retiring prior to July 1, 2017, the State of Iowa administers your insurance program through December 31, 2017. Effective January 1, 2018, all Merit Retirees will be eligible for the same retiree health and dental plans available to Faculty, Professional & Scientific, Merit Supervisory Exempt and Merit Confidential Staff retirees. In order to continue health and/or dental coverage, you will need to actively enroll in the new benefit plans during Open Enrollment. Open Enrollment will begin in fall and further information including 2018 premiums will be provided at that time.

Merit Staff - Retiree after July 1, 2017

Effective July 1, 2017, all Merit Staff Retirees will be eligible for the same retiree health and dental plans available to Faculty, Professional & Scientific, Merit Supervisory Exempt and Merit Confidential Staff retirees.

Merit Staff Early Retirees

Merit Staff participating in the Special Early Retirement Program III will remain on the State of Iowa plans through December 31, 2017. Effective January 1, 2018, all Special Early Retirement Program III participants will become eligible for the same benefits plans currently available to the Faculty, Professional & Scientific, Merit Supervisory Exempt, and Merit Confidential early retirees.
