Change management activities aim to mobilize people around the change to deliver consistent service and to enable them to succeed on their individual change journeys. Change happens one person at a time—collective outcomes depend on individual transitions.
Rather than naïvely assuming that employees will just get on board and return to how things were, the university is taking a proactive approach in helping our employees back to campus, understanding that emotions are high for many of us.
Our change management work is to support our employees. A successful return to campus results in employees who embrace the change, which ultimately benefits the university and those we serve.
While each college or division within the university is defining its own return to campus and what that looks like, individual orgs also are responsible for supporting their employees through the change. University Human Resources can partner with senior HR leaders to help supervisors manage change:
- UHR Organizational Effectiveness provides a return-to-campus change-management template to help each org identify communications and actions that will position leaders, supervisors, and employees for success.
- Senior HR leaders create tailored change management plans for their orgs.
- UHR Organizational Effectiveness provides change management guidance and tips.
- UHR Organizational Effectiveness checks in with senior HR leaders on change management successes and challenges through summer and fall and serves as a support.
