Research shows that money isn’t necessarily the most powerful factor in retention. This 2016 Gallup article notes that while many employees consider changing jobs for higher pay, they’re less likely to leave their current jobs when they feel fully engaged.

Engaged employees understand how their work makes a difference, feel supported by their supervisor or unit, and believe they have an opportunity to grow and develop
