This miniseries is an excellent way for supervisors and managers to become more familiar with some of the key components of individual and organizational performance management. The courses offered are designed to provide you with practical information and knowledge you can utilize to enhance the ways in which you impact the development of your staff team. Participants will, through open discussions and practical exercises, have the opportunity to explore some of the concepts and challenges that come with successfully leading others.
Your Role in Supporting Staff Performance
As a person who supervises others, you have significant impact on staff development and performance. This course offers a proactive approach to guiding staff in achieving consistent positive performance and growth. Supervisors will understand the importance of effective staff orientation and the impact of shared goal setting. Developing a collaborative approach based on mutual organization and individual benefit will be applied throughout the class.
Communicating for Performance
Managing performance is an expectation of all our campus leaders/managers. This interactive session will invite you to consider ways to motivate and engage your staff to achieve their goals and the goals of the unit. Data, research and stories will be shared to bring this topic to life! Utilizing true-to-life workplace scenarios, we will also practice verbal feedback (meaningful conversations), as well as explore and identify coachable moments.
Managing for Improvement
How should you proceed when employees do not meet performance expectations and have not responded to coaching? This class will provide you with practical tips and methods for addressing performance deficiencies and behavioral issues, recognizing that the goal is always to support improvement, but also recognizing that sometimes a separation from employment is necessary and in the best interests of both the unit and individual. We will discuss Clarifications of Expectations, Performance Improvement Plans, and Progressive Discipline. Participants are encouraged to bring anonymous case studies to share and discuss with the group.
