Re:     Annual Policy Notification -  Staff Performance Review

Date:  December 1, 2014

As part of our series of annual policy notifications, this memo provides information on the campus policy related to performance review for University staff.  The policy,, is relevant to all staff members as recipients of performance reviews and to supervisory faculty and staff who provide performance reviews.

When well implemented, performance reviews facilitate staff members’ growth and development and assist in the achievement of institutional goals.  We encourage all staff and supervisors to engage in discussions related to reviewing last year’s accomplishments, identifying the competencies and the resources needed to do the work optimally, and setting goals for the upcoming year.  Staff members and supervisors share the responsibility to engage in these discussions throughout the year to accomplish individual and organizational goals; the annual review affords the opportunity to summarize and record the discussion.

For clarification regarding guidelines or expectations related to performance review, please contact your Human Resources representative.  To identify your HR representative, log in to Employee Self-Service at; click on the Personal tab and then on My HR Unit Rep under “General.”

If you are an administrative leader and are interested in improving your performance review process, please contact Organizational Effectiveness, a unit of University Human Resources, for assistance at 335-2687.
