- Union: Data on hours worked by 90% employees at UIHC each month
The following numbers for UI Health Care employees working at 90% for at least one day during the month of July 2014 were: Total: 824
No additional hours:...........................83

IV. Old Business
a. Union: Post-holiday food drive
AFSCME would like to find a way to support community fund drives. Kevin Ward explained the University’s policy on solicitation and discussed the limitations of management participation.
b. Union: Are part-time workers being required to work full-time?
The issue was discussed and management confirmed that part-time workers can be worked over their appointment percentage. If AFSCME has further concerns they will bring the topic back to LMC for discussion.
c. Union: Has a vendor been picked for providing required clothing for employees at IRL?
Michelle Kongable noted that Cherokee was the favored vendor but not the designated vendor. She noted that it was in a pilot phase and continues to be.
d. Union: Safety issues arising from the process and chemicals used in the UIHC water supply preparation stations (Guest - Richard Frauenholz)
Chuck Kupka gave Council charge. Waiting for bids for vendors. Signage on isolation issues has been improved. Ellen Chambers to attend meeting on October 2, 2014.
e. Union: Safety Committe
Has not met yet.
V. New Business
Management: Working at Iowa (Guest - Kevin Ward)
Kevin Ward, Assistant Vice President for Human Resources Administration gave an overview of the Working at Iowa survey 2014. The survey period will be from October 14-28 and responses are used to make both short and long term improvements, support effectiveness and guide work to achieve the strategic goals of University and units.
