How to Establish a New Merit Position

Departments should complete the following forms to establish a new Merit position:

  • Essential and Marginal Job Function Analysis
  • Unit Organizational Chart highlighting location of proposed position
  • Position Change Form (available in the HR Position Management System)

Reclassification of an Existing Merit Position

New Merit positions and vacant Merit reclassifications are reviewed by Employment Services.  Refer to the Merit Classification Review process for more information on how to reclassify Merit positions.
