Working at Iowa is Quick
Working at Iowa includes 29 survey items. Most people complete the survey in five minutes or less.
Survey items are organized in four sections. The first 20 multiple-choice items are carried over from previous surveys and cover your experiences with:
- Your supervisor
- Your unit
- The university
The remaining nine survey items are new this year. They ask you to describe your physical, mental, and emotional energy at work.
Working at Iowa is Confidential
Working at Iowa will be administered using Qualtrics, an online survey product licensed by the University of Iowa.
After the survey closes, the data will be provided to the Center for Public Health Statistics in the UI College of Public Health, where it will be processed into summary reports. Individual survey responses are not accessible by supervisors, human resources representatives, or university administrators.
Providing only summary results for any given survey item for any given organization also helps preserve confidentiality. Results will only be reported as percentages of those participating, and only when there are 10 or more responses to any individual survey item. Total number of participants will be provided for each complete report, but not for individual survey items. This strategy has protected the confidentiality of responses in previous surveys.
The Qualtrics system tracks completion, which allows the project team to contact those who have not yet completed the survey. It's like voting in an election—the system keeps track of who has participated, but does not keep a record of how each individual responded.
