Discover a slew of "bad decisions" from the Rare Book Collection in the Law Library!
Our exploration begins with George Ruggle's 1615 Ignoramus, which centers around a play on words between a jury indictment and an insulting term for a lawyer. We will consult a Dunciad written in Dog Latin owned by the law school's first dean, William Gardner Hammond; look at examples of Law French's enduring influence on legal and plain English; shudder at book binding gaffes; and much more.
Our session is on Zoom and will include close-ups of all the books and artifacts.
