Founded in 1959, the Office of the State Archaeologist (OSA) is a nationally recognized research laboratory, library and repository, and public facility. As Iowa's statutorily mandated repository for the state's archeological collections, OSA houses over 4 million objects from about 14,000 archaeological sites in Iowa.
Join us for a tour of our facility, which includes our research lab, repositories, and see the Wayne County mastodon skull and bones. You will also learn about our State Archaeological Repository and statewide public education efforts.
Date: May 20
Times: 12–1 p.m. or 1–2 p.m.
Host: Elizabeth Reetz
Location: Office of the State Archaeologist, 700 Clinton Street Building
