Jobs.uiowa.edu is the official career site for all staff openings at the University of Iowa. The minimum advertising time frame for a position on jobs.uiowa.edu is 10 business days (14 calendar days) for P&S searches and 10 calendar days for merit searches. During the advertising period, applicants may apply for the position and make edits to their application materials.  When the advertisement period closes applicants will no longer have the opportunity to apply for positions through the jobs.uiowa.edu portal. 

As required by federal regulations, the University of Iowa requests information from job applicants to monitor and report on its equal employment opportunity and affirmative action programs. The university accommodates this policy with the Applicant Self-Identification Form, which is available as part of the online application process. Submission of this information is voluntary. The information for individual applicants will not be shared nor used in making employment decisions. If applicants choose not to answer these questions, they will not be excluded from consideration for employment.

Job Aggregator

As part of the OTAC implementation, the University of Iowa has integrated with a job board aggregator, Broadbean, which is a job aggregator cloud software product. Broadbean offers two strategic components to the recruitment advertising process: 1) ease of job board distribution and 2) OFCCP/Diversity board distribution.

The product automates the distribution to local, state, and national boards. Included in these boards are several free resources provided by the product as well as boards currently under a contractual agreement through UHR Talent Acquisition. Any board selected by the recruiter will post to the sites within 24 hours. In addition, all jobs with an external search will post to several pre-determined sites.

The University of Iowa rate for 2023 is $150 for 1 job post. 

Positions That Should Be Posted

We do not envision that every job vacancy at the University of Iowa will be posted on CareerBuilder. We would expect it to be used when there has been past difficulty filling a vacancy.

CorridorCareers

Corridor Careers–The Gazette Company is a recruitment website that is focused on providing the people and employers of the Cedar Rapids/Iowa City Corridor in Eastern Iowa with a single source for all their employment needs. CorridorCareers serves both the local job seeker and those outside the area looking to return to Cedar Rapids/Iowa City corridor.

HigherEdJobs is an external employment web site designed exclusively for listing job vacancies at colleges and universities.  More importantly, the job seekers who view the web site have the academic credentials needed to work in higher education.

Cost of Posting on HigherEdJobs

There is no cost to organizations/departments who request a job vacancy be posted on HigherEdJobs.com.  The subscription is paid for by University Human Resources.

Positions That Should Be Posted

Indeed is an external employment web site which lists many different types of jobs. Indeed’s job search engine includes millions of jobs from thousands of sources. Sponsored Jobs allow the user to promote their job by displaying prominently and appear more often in search results. With Sponsored Jobs, you set your own budget with Indeed’s pay-for-performance model and only pay when someone clicks on your job.

Cost of Sponsored Job on Indeed

The suggested budget for a Sponsored Job are $100 for positions needing less exposure and $300 for positions that are traditionally difficult to fill.
