Virtual Event
Love might be all you need, but these amorous books make a compelling case for the Law Library, too.
Explore themes of beauty, sin — and a bit of forgery — with our 1866 Laus Veneris ("In Praise of Venus") by Algernon Charles Swinburne; view a triad of romance novels from the 1920s that feature Abe ("Babe") Lincoln; and experience founding-era affection in books about Abigail Adams and George Washington.
There will be writings from a poisoner only a mother could love, compiled by "Carl's Mother"; surprising (and heartfelt) inclusions and inscriptions; and much more.
Romance, mystery, and mischief await at the Law Library.
Our session is on Zoom and will include close-ups of all the books and artifacts.
Date: May 19
Time: 10–10:45 a.m.
Host(s): Noëlle Sinclair
Location: Zoom link will be provided ahead of the event.
