With the Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP), you may seek care from providers in the Alliance Select PPO.
On Campus or the Iowa City area:
The SHIP plan is designed to work in conjunction with Student Health. Students are encouraged to use the University of Iowa Student Health service when they need health care.

For details on a provider's in-network status or your policy's coverage, contact the Wellmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield customer service number on the back of your member ID card before making an appointment.
Off-Campus or Away from Iowa:
SHIP provides worldwide coverage. Choosing an Alliance Select PPO participating provider can be advantageous when receiving treatment.
The member is responsible for calling Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Iowa (on the back of the insurance card) before being admitted to a hospital for non-emergency care and within 24 hours of emergency and maternity admissions.
