Accommodations and Support
Academic Accommodations Application
Student Disability Services is dedicated to helping students find and implement reasonable academic accommodations. This accommodation process involves input from both the student and the instructor.
Academic Coaching
Academic coaches work with students with disabilities to provide regular coaching sessions focusing on helping students develop strategies and skills for academic success.
Student Care and Assistance
The mission of Student Care and Assistance is to coordinate efforts, often in collaboration with campus partners, to assist students with overcoming challenges to be successful and continue towards graduation. Student Care and Assistance specializes in helping students who are experiencing crisis or emergency situations.
Student Disability Services
Title IX is a federal law that prohibits discrimination based on sex in an education program. Requests for general pregnancy needs, such as a larger desk or extended time to complete assignments, can be directed to Student Disability Services.

Academic Support & Retention
Through campus partnerships, Academic Support & Retention provides leadership and support of campus-wide retention and academic success efforts through initiatives and programs. Through the implementation of academic success initiatives, course-based supports, student success initiatives, and consultations and trainings, our goal is to facilitate learning and development of undergraduate students.
Private Tutors
Private Tutors are available to undergraduate students in a variety of courses.
Supplemental Instruction
Supplemental Instruction (SI) is a free resource that helps students figure out how to be successful in their courses.
Workshops
The Office of Academic Support & Retention facilitates academic workshops focusing on a variety of topics that are available to student groups, student organizations, university departments, and course instructors.
Campus Resources
Campus Connected Childcare Centers
UI Family Services partners with eleven privately-owned childcare centers located within 1.5 miles of campus. For the most up-to-date center information, including rates and openings, we encourage parents to contact centers directly.
Food Pantry at Iowa
The Food Pantry is a free service open to anyone with a university ID card. It provides free nutritious food and basic necessities for University of Iowa students, graduate and professional students, postdocs, staff, and faculty.
Hawkeye Meal Share
Hawkeye Meal Share aims to provide students facing food insecurity or emergency situations with access to nutritious meals in our University Dining marketplaces.
Iowa Students with Children Network
The Iowa Students with Children Network is a student organization that supports students with children at the University of Iowa. The goal is to connect with parents in college, offer family-friendly events, and improve the quality of life for students with children.

Childcare Subsidy Program
The University of Iowa Childcare Subsidy Program provides financial assistance to undergraduate and graduate students with children to assist with the cost of childcare, allowing students to better balance their academic responsibilities with family life.
Financial Well-Being
The University of Iowa partners with Hills Bank – Your Bank on Campus to offer financial well-being services to faculty, staff, and students. You don't need to be a Hills Bank customer to take advantage of this service.
Infant/Toddler, School Ready Scholarship Programs
Iowa Department of Human Services Childcare Assistance
Child Care Assistance (CCA) is available to the children of income-eligible parents who are gone for a portion of the day due to employment or participation in academic or vocational training or PROMISE JOBS activities. Assistance may also be available for a limited period of time to the children of a parent looking for employment.
Student Life Emergency Fund
The Student Life Emergency Fund was created to assist and support University of Iowa undergraduate, graduate, and professional students who encounter an unforeseen financial emergency or catastrophic event which would otherwise prevent them from continuing their education at the UI.
UI Scholarships
The University of Iowa offers various scholarships each year to outstanding undergraduate students based on financial need, academic merit, or both.
UI Health Care
Breastfeeding Support Group
Spend time with other breastfeeding parents and an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant to talk about breastfeeding experiences and answer any questions.
Childbirth Classes
Childbirth classes are designed for expectant families between the 25th and 35th week of pregnancy. Early registration is recommended because classes fill up quickly.
