Frequently Asked Questions

Can I get my flu shot?

UI Employees in 50% or greater, regular positions may bring their Iowa One Card to the event to obtain a free flu vaccine. Learn more about the 2024 Flu Vaccine Campaign!

Are there special instructions to get my cholesterol and fasting blood glucose checked?

The UI College of Pharmacy Academy of Student Pharmacists will be doing blood cholesterol, fasting blood glucose checks, and blood pressure screenings. The fasting blood glucose tests will be offered until 10:30 a.m. and require that no food or drink (besides water) be consumed for 12-hours prior to the test. For all screenings, you will receive your results, will have a brief consult on how to interpret your results, and learn what some recommended next steps may be.

What prizes are there?

Several vendors will have giveaways and prizes at their tables. Stop by the liveWELL tables for chances to win prizes and wellness points! All employees who check in upon entrance (Bring University ID card to swipe in) and participate in the engagement activities at the event will be eligible to win door prizes such as IMU Hawk Shop gift cards and items. If you win a prize, you will be notified after the event. More information on how to win prizes will be added closer to the event.

How do I get to the Health Fair?

UI Cambus Red Route has a stop next to the Field House in front of Rienow Hall. View routes and arrival times for UI Cambus. There are also bike racks available at the UI Field House. Parking will be available at an hourly rate in the Field House ramp or hospital ramp 4 for employees attending the fair.

Is this for students?

This event is for UI Employees (Faculty and Staff). Open Enrollment for University Benefits is occurring during this time which is a unique event just for employees. Additionally, to control lines and space we focus this event to employees. Student Wellness offers several smaller Health Expo events around campus each September that are uniquely geared to students. https://studentwellness.uiowa.edu/programs/events

Why is this event only from 7:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.?

Our vendors at the event are volunteering their time away from their normal workday. They often do not have large staff to cover set-up, full day of tabling with little time for breaks, and tear-down. We want to prioritize the well-being of our event vendors and volunteers as well. At our last few in-person events, most of the foot-traffic was between 7:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.

What are the goals of the health and well-being fair?

The health and well-being fair aims to link UI employees with Iowa's on-campus resources that support their health and well-being. With a variety of departments and entities attending, the long list of vendors shows a focus on holistic well-being, ensuring there's something for everyone.

I want to participate as a vendor.

The Health and Well-Being Fair includes University of Iowa departments, programs, UI Health Care, and campus partners that provide well-being services and resources for employees and the university community. If you are interested in participating in the event, please contact liveWELL@uiowa.edu.
