Intermittent flexibility supports occasional or short-term needs. Because this type of flexibility is temporary, it is established between the employee and supervisor and does not require formal documentation with a Work Arrangement Application.

Intermittent flexibility is designed with your well-being in mind, enhancing work-life balance, and accommodating the unique demands of certain roles.

When is intermittent flexibility the right fit?

Intermittent flexibility may be appropriate when a temporary schedule change can be supported without creating an ongoing work arrangement or disrupting services, coverage, collaboration, or other job responsibilities.

Examples include:

  • Leaving work early to pick up a sick child or other family member
  • Attending a personal event mid-day, either using accruals or a flexible schedule
  • Balancing work with an outside priority
  • Working from home or another remote location as needed to tend to personal matters

When do I need to fill out a Work Arrangement application?

Use the Work Arrangement application when the proposed schedule or work location is ongoing rather than temporary. A formal arrangement is also required to implement a flexible schedule, hybrid, or remote work.
