LiveWELL launched its new group coaching series, Back to the Basics, this spring with the goal of helping employees build foundational habits in nutrition, physical activity, mental well-being, and sleep.
The five-week programs combine expert-led sessions, peer support, and practical tools to foster sustainable lifestyle changes. After participating in the nutrition and physical activity programs, dozens of participants reported significant improvements in confidence, knowledge, and daily habits.
Registered dietitian and health and wellness coach Madison Coyne leads Back to the Basics: Nutrition, exploring topics like dietary guidelines, meal planning, and overcoming barriers to healthy eating.
Survey data revealed a marked increase in participants' confidence. The average confidence score for regularly building balanced meals rose by 25.4% between the time participants were surveyed at the start of the program to when they were surveyed at the conclusion. Confidence in navigating challenges increased by 37.7%.
"Madison was welcoming, non-judgmental, and provided several tools for us to use," an attendee said. "The opportunity to participate in this program is amazing and I really appreciate it."
Another attendee described the "excellent information" they learned over the course of the program and looked forward to applying it in their daily life.
Back to the Basics: Physical Activity is led by health and wellness coach Erica Blaha and covers weekly topics including motivation, overcoming barriers to sustainable movement, and strength training.
The average confidence score for regularly engaging in physical activity increased by 24.2%, with confidence in navigating physical activity challenges increasing by 28.8%. Like those who participated in the nutrition program, 100% of attendees in the physical activity program said they learned new information or skills, and 96% said their activity habits improved.
"I loved the atmosphere Erica created where we could talk without judgement about our physical well-being," an attendee said. "Lots of good information was shared on how to move forward with increasing physical activity and types of physical activity."
Another participant said: "This was a very welcoming class that helped me change my thinking when it comes to physical activity and helped me to build the confidence to start small rather than not start at all."
Be on the lookout this year for opportunities to register for Back to the Basics, whether you're interested in physical activity, nutrition, sleep, or mental well-being.
