Carman started her career at the University of Iowa in 2000 at the College of Engineering Department of Mechnical Engineering. She has also worked in the College of Public Health Institute for Quality Health Care and Institute for Public Health Practice.

Carman provides administrative support for the Employee Assistance Program director and counselors, assisting clients with scheduling appointments as requested.
