At the University of Iowa, we are committed to supporting your growth and development. The Tuition Assistance program offers eligible faculty and staff an opportunity to apply for financial assistance to help defray the cost of tuition (excluding fees) for one college credit course (up to four semester hours).
Apply through Employee Self-Service
If you are part of University of Iowa Health Care and not eligible for the university's tuition assistance program, please visit the UI Health Care Tuition and Certification Assistance Program website for details and contact information.
Eligibility Requirements
- Must be appointed to a "regular appointment,” 50% time or greater; and
- Must be employed one continuous year by the application deadline in a "regular" appointment.
Conditions (new for fall 2024)
By accepting tuition assistance, you agree to the specified terms and conditions, including repaying tuition assistance if you leave paid employment at the university within two years after the end of the semester in which you received assistance.
To qualify for tuition assistance, your coursework must be job relevant. A course qualifies if it:
- Is in pursuit of a college degree, or
- Maintains or improves skills relevant to your current position.
Coursework must be completed at the University of Iowa, unless an equivalent course is not offered at UI and is deemed job relevant.
You must remain available for your regularly scheduled work hours. Any changes to work hours for classes require approval from your employing unit.
You must be continuously employed during the course to remain eligible for tuition assistance.
Tuition assistance is for the semester it is awarded. If you withdraw from the course, the funds will revert to the Tuition Assistance Program, and you are responsible for any fees. Please notify UI Learning & Development if you drop a class to avoid future denial of assistance.
Remember, limited funds are available. Please commit to completing each course funded by this program to make the most of this valuable opportunity.
