Executive Leadership Academy-Higher Ed

The Executive LExecutive Leadership Academy-Higher Ed  logoeadership Academy-Higher Ed is a comprehensive program, designed for accomplished mid to senior-level staff and faculty with strategic and operational leadership responsibilities. The Academy develops and enhances participant core competencies essential for effective, agile, and innovative leadership. The goals of this intensive nine-month program include:

  • Strengthening our diverse culture by building networks to increase cross-institutional collaboration and retention
  • Expanding participants’ leadership knowledge and skills for today’s changing higher education and research environments
  • Increasing knowledge and impact in leading agile administrative, operational, and project teams
  • Building strong organizational sustainability
  • Increasing leader commitment to strategic and innovative culture

Applications for the 2017-18 academy are due April 7, 2017
Acceptance notifications will be sent in May 2017

Application Process

University of Iowa applicants should submit a completed online application, located within Employee Self-Service, no later than April 7, 2017. The completed application should include:

  • An updated resume or curriculum vitae
  • A letter of recommendation from a mentor
  • Once the application is complete, submit through workflow to your supervisor and mentor

The maximum capacity for the cohort is 24 participants. Applications are reviewed and participants will be selected by a diverse higher-education panel.

  • Essay Responses – 30%
  • Resume – 30%
  • Impact Potential – 20%
  • Endorsement from Mentor – 20%

The selection process is designed to create a qualified, diverse, and inclusive participant group which enhances collaborative learning and reflects the breadth of their institution's mission.
