Wellness Ambassador gets creative with Campus Wellness Scavenger Hunt
Monday, August 31, 2026

As a liveWELL Wellness Ambassador, Dawn Whitehill, Director of Clinical Services in Pharmacy at Medical Center Downtown (MCD), looks for simple and creative ways to support employee well-being. This summer, she encouraged colleagues to take part in the liveWELL Campus Wellness Scavenger Hunt and helped make participation easy, social, and fun.

Bringing the Scavenger Hunt to Life

Journey from start to finish image

The liveWELL Campus Wellness Scavenger Hunt invites employees to explore campus destinations while answering clues and discovering places across campus.

89% of participants are likely to recommend the Campus Wellness Scavenger Hunt to a colleague or friend.

After learning about the program through Wellness Ambassador meetings, Dawn shared it with the Downtown Medical Center directors’ group as a walk-and-talk meeting or team-building opportunity. She also scheduled several one-hour walks and invited interested directors to join her.

Dawn mapped routes from MCD and selected destinations that could be reached within an hour. Before each walk, she sent participants a Teams reminder with the destination and expected walking time, then shared photos afterward to highlight the experience and encourage others to join the next walk.

Creating New Opportunities for Participation

When temperatures became extremely hot, Dawn created two indoor options at MCD. The MCD Art Walk featured artwork and historic items along indoor walking paths she had previously collaborated on with liveWELL. She also developed a scavenger hunt focused on signs throughout the building and invited managers to participate with their teams.

These options gave employees new ways to move, explore, and connect while staying indoors. Human Resources colleagues also shared photos from their Art Walk experience, helping spread interest beyond MCD leadership.

Leading by Example

Over the summer, Dawn led 12 Wellness Wednesday walks totaling more than 22,500 steps, creating opportunities for employees to move, connect, and explore together.

"I really enjoy finding ways to openly support the well-being of our staff. I truly want staff to feel how much I care about their happiness at work, and for me that means providing opportunities for physical, mental, and emotional health in the workplace."
