January is a time to reflect on the past and look forward to the new year. liveWELL, Employee Assistance Program (EAP), and Family Services are excited to support your health and well-being journey in 2024. Individuals who have completed their Personal Health Assessment (PHA) will automatically receive monthly wellness updates, including upcoming well-being programs and resources available at UI.

Recreation Membership Incentive

Recreation

UI employees can earn half off their monthly recreation membership fee. To receive this incentive, complete the Personal Health Assessment (PHA) and visit campus recreation facilities at least four times per month. Recreational Services has various amenities for you to utilize including world class facilities, group exercise class/programs, and more.

Health Coaching

Accomplish your 2024 well-being goals with a liveWELL Health Coach. A health coach is a free, confidential, non-judgmental partner who supports you with simple and sustainable changes. Work with a coach to create strategies to build and maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Health Coaching

Eligible employees in a 50% or greater regular appointment with UI can access up to 5 free individual health coaching sessions per 12 months. Meet with a health coach at the CRWC, University Employee Health Clinic (UEHC), or virtually.

Group Health Coach Service

New this year! Gain support in behavior change with the support of a group and a coach. Topics will focus on brain health, stress, nutrition, and physical health throughout the year.  Groups will meet in-person or virtually. 

Train Your Brain is a four session group health coaching program that will help you explore ways to activate your brain to be happier and healthier. Are you tired of feeling distracted or forgetting where you put your keys and phone? Learn strategies to support focus and memory.

QPR Suicide Prevention Training

Support

Question, Persuade, Respond (QPR) training educates people on how to recognize the warning signs of suicide. In about an hour, participants will gain confidence asking the question, 'Are you having suicidal thoughts? Multiple QPR trainings are available throughout the year. The UI Emergency Hardship Fund supports costs up to $1000 related to an emergency event or crisis, resulting in financial hardship. If you are struggling financially due to an unforeseen hardship event, determine if you are eligible for the program.

Back Up Child Care

Tis the season for school and childcare closings. Enter back-up child care! The University of Iowa partners with the local childcare center, Handicare, Inc, to provide back-up childcare services in the case your child’s school or childcare program closes intermittently (hello Iowa winters!). Registration paperwork needs to be submitted in advance of securing this service. Learn more about the program and access the required forms.
