Resources and services

The University of Iowa is America’s pioneer in the integration of higher education and the creative arts. As the first university in the nation to grant thesis credit for creative work in the arts, the university served as the model for the creative arts programs that now exist in many American universities and colleges.

Iowa was one of the first universities in the nation to combine Studio Art and Art History in one school. The School of Art and Art History continues to offer both programs, reflecting its philosophy that artists benefit from the study of artistic traditions, historians learn from personal experience with the creation of art, and teachers need a firm foundation in both.

Faculty and staff are offered an employee discount to purchase tickets to athletic events. In addition, Athletics operates Finkbine Golf Course, an 18-hole championship course open to staff members at reduced rates.

Updates are posted to e.uiowa.edu and social media.

You may also receive alerts via outdoor/emergency sirens systems, building notification systems, and other digital communication. These notifications are sent to either the entire campus or may be targeted to specific buildings or areas of campus when the impact is limited.

  • Crime Alerts are used to provide a timely warning about an incident that has already occurred but may pose a serious or ongoing threat to the campus community. These alerts are sent via email when a Clery Act crime is committed within the university's Clery geography and reported to a campus security authority or local law enforcement.

Clery Act crimes include: murder, manslaughter, sex offenses, robbery, burglary, aggravated assault, arson, motor vehicle theft, domestic/dating violence, stalking and hate crimes.
