Macbride Nature Recreation Area (June 18)
The University of Iowa's Macbride Nature Recreation Area is a beautiful 485-acre natural area existing largely undisturbed since pre-settlement that represents one of Iowa's most endangered ecosystems: the White Oak Savanna.
During your visit, MNRA land manager Tamra Elliott will lead you on a nature walk among our old growth trees to learn what makes this area so special. You'll experience up close interactions with wildlife that inhabit the area while learning about the university's connection to the area, the natural history of the land, and UI Landscape Services' mission to restore this invaluable resource.
This will be an outdoor event in nature. Please wear appropriate clothing and walking shoes suitable for the weather. Walking will be over uneven paved and unpaved surfaces.
