Biography

Cayce Myers is a professor of public relations and director of graduate studies at the School of Communication at Virginia, where he researches and teaches about the legal, regulatory, and ethical aspects of public relations.  As a lawyer who also holds a Ph.D. in mass communication, Myers has authored five books and sixty publications including peer-reviewed articles, book chapters, law review articles, and trade press pieces, covering topics such as public relations history, strategy, political campaigns, and related laws and policies.  His newest publication, "The Rules of Public Relations," delves into the current laws and ethical challenges in the field of PR practice. The release is scheduled for this July. 

An accredited public relations professional, Myers is actively involved in PR organizations including the Arthur W. Page Society, Public Relations Society of America, PRSA Foundation, Institute for Public Relations, National Press Club, PR Museum's Higher Education Committee, and the Commission on Public Relations Education. Previously, he served on the Universal Accreditation Board and the PRSA's Board of Ethics and Professional Standards. He currently represents the mid-Atlantic district on the PRSA National Board of Directors and is a Trustee for the PRSA Foundation.  He is also a regulator commentator on public relations, political campaigns, and legal matters having been quoted in Time magazine, Bloomberg, Fox News, the Los Angeles Times, the Hill, Associated Press and the Wall Street Journal.
